Frequently Asked Questions:
1) I bought a reptile from you last week and it hasn’t eaten yet. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do?
Response - There is always an adjustment period when bringing a reptile home to a new environment. It could take up to a few weeks for them to settle in. Please verify your temperatures and humidity in any case.

2) My leopard gecko has stopped eating. Any ideas on why this could be happening?
Response - leopard geckos often eat less or even start fasting during the winter months. There is nothing to worry about unless they start losing weight. It’s always a good idea to check your temperatures, as when leopard geckos stop eating, it almost always tends to be heat related. There have been instances where heat pads failed or burned out without being noticed.

3) What is the proper way to check the temperature in my leopard gecko’s enclosure?
Response - Leopard geckos rely on belly heat to digest their food properly. Therefore, you must maintain a GROUND temperature of between 88 and 92 degrees Fahrenheit inside their warm hide. You should have a digital thermometer to monitor the temperature. Place the probe of the thermometer inside the warm hide. Make sure the probe is touching the ground. Take the temperature reading and adjust your heat source until you get the above mentioned temperature. The cool side of the enclosure should be anywhere between 74 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. If it’s any cooler than 74, a low wattage ceramic heat emitter can be used to bump the temperature up a few degrees.

4) I have the round stick on thermometers on the wall in my leopard geckos enclosure. Do I still need a digital thermometer?
Response - Yes, you still should have a digital thermometer. The round stick on gauges only measure the air temperature in your tank. You need to measure the ground temperature for leopard geckos.

5) Do I really need to purchase a thermostat for my leopard gecko’s enclosure?

Response - Yes! Any heat source should be controlled with a thermostat. Under the tank heaters will reach the 110 F temperature without one. Heat cable will reach 120F.

6) I decided that I want to start breeding my leopard geckos. What morph will I get if I breed my Mack snow to my tangerine?
Response - there are two amazing morph calculators out there.
There is an application called reptile calculator for IPhone.
There is also a free internet site called Reptimate.
